In the first six months of 2017, at least one cybercrime was reported every 10 minutes in India, according to a report by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) due to the recent ransomware attacks.
Given that India’s digital user base is growing at an extremely healthy rate, cyberexperts say that it is critical to put a security mechanism in place.
While tools like anti-virus, intrusion detection system and others help to a certain extent, most people seem to forget that a tamper proof password is fundamental to security. Simple passwords are easy-to-remember but pose the biggest threat.
Password management service Keeper Security scrutinized 10 million passwords, which leaked into public domain in 2016 and released its list of '25 most common passwords of 2016.
Make sure you never use any of these 25 passwords, if you do, change it immediately
